The Consciousness of the Atom
1922, seven lectures by Alice A Bailey, a classic esoteric text
First US edition, hardback, bound in the original blue cloth with gilt titling to spine and upper board. 23.5 × 15cm, 104pp.
The first sole authorship book by Alice A Bailey, and is a transcript of a series of lectures delivered in New York during the winter of 1921/22. The book discusses the scientific relation of matter and consciousness as evolution progressively affects the atomic substance of all forms. This book talks about how the atom emerges as a miniature but complete replica of the energy structure common to all forms of life—cosmic, planetary, human and subhuman. The seven lectures contained are: 1. The Field of Evolution; 2. The Evolution of Substance; 3. The Evolution of Form, or Group Evolution; 4. The Evolution of Man, the Thinker; 5. The Evolution of Consciousness; 6. The Goal of Evolution; 7. Cosmis Evolution.
A good copy. The blue cloth is faded to the spine with three significant small patches of fading where it looks like labels have been removed. The book is lightly rubbed to the corners. The inner binding is secure and the pages clean, though a slight mustiness is present. There is an intriguing booksellers label to the front pastedown, "Quo Vadis" of Geneva. A rare book.
