First illustrated edition, hardback bound in the original black cloth with striking gilt design to upper board and spine. Pages' top edge dyed red, fore-edge untrimmed. 24.5 × 15.5cm, 291pp + ads.

With 12 full page black & white illustrations by Frank C. Pape, a collection of 16 short stories by Anatole France, first published in 1892 as L'Étui de nacre.


An attractive copy. There is light wear to the spine ends and a few small marks to the spine. Light browning to the endpapers but the main body of ext is in good condition with clean pages and secure binding.
