Lovely Food; A Cookery Notebook
Ruth & Thomas Lowinsky's celebration of good food
First edition, hardback bound in the priginal cloth with gilt titling to spine. 22 × 14.5cm, + 127pp.
A cookery guide for the artistic bourgeoisie. Written in the early 1930s when most cookery books were talking of economy, this one celebrates richer foods, with menus, tea, picnics, English puddings, a shooting lunch, superlative food... The book ends with blank sheets to fill out for guests / menu / wines & liqueurs etc. The book is illustrated with 11 line drawings by Thomas Lowinsky.
Good plus condition. The pages are clean and the inner binding is secure. There is some dulling to the cloth boards but essentially this is a nice copy.
