A Middle English language version of the Harrowing of Hell (Descensus Christi ad Inferos) is the triumphant descent of Christ into Hell between the time of his Crucifixion and his Resurrection when he brought salvation to all of the righteous who had died since the beginning of the world (excluding the damned), here published with the apocryphal Gospel of Nicodemus. The book has a lengthy introduction on the language and translation.

This copy is ex-library. It has been rebound in plain burgundy cloth, the title page has the library's embossed stamp but the text pages are unscathed. The original cover has been bound in at the rear. A good plus reading copy.
