Full title: The Complete Works of Robert Burns: Containing his Poems, Songs, and Correspondence. Illustrated by W H Bartlett, T Allom and other artists. With a New Life of the Poet and Notice, Critical and Biographical, by Allan Cunningham
A delightful mid-Victorian copy of the complete works of Robert Burns. The book is delightfully illustrated with 34 full-page tissue guarded plates (including the vignette to title page), and all plates are present according to the plate index. The text is printed in double columns.
A very nice copy with some wear. The leather suffers from light abrasions and one scratch to the front board, and a few small chips to the bands of the spine. Slight discoloration to half of the boards. The book lacks the first blank, and the front hinge is showing wear but the binding remains secure and intact. The pages and plates have spotted foxing but never too severe. An attractive copy.
