Syphilis, Its Diagnosis and Treatment
A rare first edition, owned by a doctor in West Africa in 1914
First edition, hardback, bound in the original red cloth with gilt titling to spine and upper board. 22 × 14cm, vii + 195pp.
A study of syphilis, its history, pathology, clinical course, diagnosis and prognosis, treatment of chancre (a painless ulcer), affections of the nervous system, treatments (inunction and intramuscular, arylarsonate and other methods). This copy was owned by a K B Allen, of the West Africa Medical Service in the Gold Coast Colony, and was signed by him 1st August 1914.
A very good copy, but with some sun fading to the spine and a stamp to the ffep, there are a few small dots to the red cloth binding but internally very sound.
