Full title: Some Account of the Life of Rachael Wriothesley, Lady Russell followed by A Series of Letters from Lady Russell to Her Husband, William Lord Russell; from 1672 to 1682; together with Some Miscellaneous Letters to and from Lady Russell. To which are added eleven letters from Dorothy Sidney, Countess of Sunderland, to George Saville Marquis of Hallifax in the year 1680. Published from originals in the possession of His Grace The Duke of Devonshire.
A collection of letters and a brief biography of Rachael Wriothesley, Lady Russell. She was a prolific letter-writer and these were first published in 1773. Her second husband (William, Lord Russell) was convicted as part of the Rye House Plot to assassinate King Charles II in 1683 and was executed for treason.
This is a good reading copy. The book has been rebound at the spine and whilst it is securely bound, it isn't attractive and has uneven titling. The rest of the book is in good order with occasional marginal markings. The text is complete and remains in strong readable condition.
