First edition, limited to 450 copies (this being 273). Hardback bound in the original blue cloth with gilt titling and design to spine and upper board. Top edge gilt, outer and lower edges untrimmed. 35 × 28cm, xix + 311pp. This is a heavy book at 5.5kg.
Illustrated with 27 full colour plates, 100 in half tone and an additonal 83 line drawings throughout the text. This is considered the definitive text on the fan. This copy is in very good condition. The blue cloth has some light rubbing to the board edges and corners. The book is free from inscription. The pages are clean bar some isolated spots of foxing and some browning to the untrimmed edges. The inner binding is secure, and all plates and tissue guards are present.
