First edition, hardback, bound in the original red cloth boards and cream spine with gilt titling. 20 × 13.5cm, v + 126pp.

This copy has been signed and dedicated to the ffep by William H Cummings to his son, "Norman Percy Cummings with his father's love, William H Cummings, 1902". Norman's calling card is stuck down to the front pastedown.

A study of the origin and history words and music of the national anthem, God Save the King", with a portrait frontispiece of John Bull, who is credited with composing the music. The appendices include the musical score, and variations. The author, William Hayman Cummings, was an English musician, tenor and organist at Waltham Abbey.


This is a very good copy. The endpapers are browned but the main body of text is in good clean condition. The binding is secure. The boards and spine are a little tanned and bumped but remains a very decent copy.
