Concerto in E flat major for harp and orchestra, Op 98—CLARINETTE PART
Signed by Welsh harpist John Thomas
Probably published mid to late nineteenth century. Loose sheets. 34 × 27.5cm. 5pp.
This copy has been signed by John Thomas, the Welsh harpist and composer. John Thomas (1826–1913) was a well-known Welsh musician who was given the bardic name Pencerdd Gwalia (Chief of the Welsh Minstrels) at the Aberdare Eisteddfod in 1861. He was appointed Harpist to Queen Victoria in 1872.
This is the clarinet part of Parish Alvars' Concerto in E flat major for harp and orchestra, Op 98, the composition was finished in 1844/45 in Naples whilst he was recovering from a fall on Mount Vesuvius.
Good condition. The pages are a little browned to the edges and there are some inoffensive annotations to the music (possibly by John Thomas).
