The Singer's Catechism and Creed
First edition, first printing hardback in dustwrapper. 21.5 × 15cm. xxvi + 168pp.
A scarce first printing of The Singer's Catechism and Creed by Blanche Marchesi (1863—1940), the French mezzo-soprano and voice teacher. This illustrated book on singing methods is divided into six chapters: The Voice; Ruin and Disease; Other Important Factors; Difficult Conditions; The Intellectual Side; and Miscellaneous. Each chapter dealing with the effect of various factors on the voice, and the styles of singing.
This copy is in very good condition. There is some surface foxing to the wrapper and to the first few pages but overall, this is a remarkably well-preserved copy of a book that is becoming increasingly difficult to find.
